Northeastern: Lighting for the Camera- Still and Video

Starting with the fall 2009 term, this course will be renumbered as DGM 6520.
Understanding lighting is the key to a professional photographic or video shoot. This course emphasizes essential lighting theory and techniques. Topics include lighting equipment, lighting sources and arrangement, color temperature, lighting for indoor, outdoor, and greenscreen, and location shooting, as well as the editorial use of lighting to create tone and communicate narrative. Students will have the opportunity to create short video projects in different lighting environments and for different purposes to experience a wide range of lighting problems and solutions.
